Just for fun hang a paper map of Oregon on a wall and push pins at each of the locations mentioned. Look at the highways and wrap a string around each pin to scope out a route that might work for your family. Don't forget to allow time to stop and explore the area. You might not be able to do it all in one visit.

I paperbook that I used with my kids is probably long out of print, "Oregon for the Curious". What great fun!

I've been looking at a lot of pictures and maps of Oregon and I would really like to visit the Siskiyou National Forest, especially in areas around the Rogue River. What towns in that area would you recommend?

You are about as far south from PDX as you can get and still be in the State. The area is huge. I wouldn't miss Ashland or Crater Lake, looking west out of Medford there is the Oregon Caves National Monument.

Ah.. you are intending to spend all summer with us, right?

Kids might get tired of scenery and hiking, unless they are over 15. Learn about ice cream shops too, great local food. The dune buggies sound fun. New camera?
