Default Heat Wave

It looks like our heat wave in Oregon is almost over. High temperatures broke records all over the state these last few days. It's good to have some sun but really. This was too much heat for May.

Today seems closer to normal here on the coast. How hot did it get where you live? Will you be glad to see the weather back to normal springtime temps? I do wonder if global warming has come to our state.

A higher power was simply shifting trying to make up for all that snow.

I tip my hat to the Corp of Engineers for managing this run-off.

Now I wish for a few more days of no more than a drizzle so that the water entrained in that snow leaves in drips, not gushers.

It's been a really strange year here, too. Yesterday it was in the 70s, today it was 58. Tomorrows supposed to be in the 60s. It's been like this the whole year. It's already May 18th and we're still not close to summer. We had a horrible winter full of cold days with cold rain and wind. It snowed alot more than usuel when it wasent rainin, and, January was surprisingly warm for us. Very strange. Global Warming is real, we NEED to do something about it.

So typical for Oregon. It will be just the reverse come autumn. 99 was just too much. Soon it will rain again and we can gripe about that.

well, im here same area as you Waterlily, so you know my temps! lol
My fav. part of it was the smell the lilac bushes outside my windows just filled my entire house as they basted in the sun! Oh bliss!!! We got a bunch of fresh fruit and sat out on the deck w/a cool dinner and mega fruit cups for dessert. Yum!
But ya, I like the more average spring weather...I REALLY liked today! Sunny and warm, clear and beautiful, but it wasn't so darn hot.
good timing though, the hot days, my oldest daughter was one of the many donation car washers downtown on Saturday! lol
personally, i used up most of my free cash though on the couple kids lemonaide stands that were scattered about. They're just too darn cute!

So, if the coast was in the 90s, does that mean the ocean was any warmer? When I was out there in August, it was freezing! <-- blue face means i'm cold!!

lol, no, it was probably still really really COLD!!! I cant say for sure, since I live in fear of things that live in the water, lurking and waiting for me to come in so they can eat me, but i think it'd take a heck of a lot more then a couple days of high temps to warm up our waters! lol But theres were still a lot of hearty souls out there playing! Bbbrrrrrrr!

The sad part is, many many people were out in the rivers, not thinking about the fact that they are running high w/the snowmelts. needless to say, the rescue crews were working full force this weekend saving people! Especially those who had a bit too much to drink too! sheesh. No worries for those out there playing it safe, lots of happy people having a great time, playing in the water and getting cooled off, but theres always those that dont think first.

Anyhow, youd probably still need a wet suit if youre gonna be in the ocean for much more time than you can hold your breath!

I didn't do it but I sure felt like I could use a dip in the cold ocean water a couple of days ago. They said it was a high of 88 here back 2 days ago but it sure felt hot. It must be cause we have some humidy. I couldn't manage to cook and eat anything hot from the stove. I just made a salad for my dinner.

Yes today was just right. It was sunny without being the least bit hot.
Anybody live elsewhere in Oregon that could tell us if you are back to normal temps?

Default Friday on the North Coast

Friday was freakishly warm on the North Coast. The worst part was that the prevailing wind was blowing West, out of the hot Valley towards the Ocean. Since the cool Ocean air couldn't make it inland, it was hot up to about 50 feet from the waterline. And of course, the Ocean was its normal chilling cold. We went wading several times with the dog until we were all numb and then walked back home into the heat.

Most folks don't have air conditioning out here but a big box fan, ice water and frozen fruit bars made it liveable in the house. I need to get a mobile wireless card for my laptop so I can work from the waterline when it gets this hot.

LOL, everybody's sunburned from over the weekend. The aloe vera lotion is off the store shelves. Took me 3 stores to find it. Monday morning it was not "Oh, you have a sunburn" but rather "Where did you get your's?".
