Hey Freedom, it is conservative rednecks that give Southern Oregon a bad name. In fact, it is Portland, Eugene, and Salem areas that supply the majority of the states taxes, so the next time you drive down the street, read a road sign, see kids going to school, enjoy a park, see the police protecting your family from harm, and putting out your fires.... you thank US!! Because without OUR tax money, you would not have that!!!!

Don’t tell me, your a male exotic dancer.. heh heh..
Let me get though this school first, and I will keep it in mind. I have always liked the Northwest..
Night Life, I’m 36 with 3 kids and a wife.. I don’t have a nightlife, lol. Besides my schedule changes every 3 months so it’s hard to go party, that is if I even still wanted too.
I know I talk like 36 is 76, I guess its just because I have lived a whole lotta life, already. =) Not complaining though.. just explaining.
To everyone else.. What’s with all this liberal, conservative baloney? I don’t really follow politics to closely.. Maybe its because of the political BS I have to put up with at work..

PDX might have a point, Freedom. It isn't even necessary for someone to throw out a term like *anti-intellecutal* when you refer to well educated people as a *bunch of college brainwashed liberals*. A famous proverb says that if you don't like what a stranger says of your home land, prove to the world that he's a liar. You seem to do the just the opposite. You seem to want to prove that there right. Did it ever occur to you that posters like Steve94715 might just be playing you? They can make some small inuendo about the redneck character of Southern Oregon and then they can get you to take the bait and prove their point for them! If you object to the way your region is depicted, why do asist in painting the portrait?

Oh boy, I’ve been called an awful lot of things, but neither male, nor exotic. lol - good try though.
I’m just desperate for an Appleby’s to come here that’s all.
And I’ve got 3 kids too, (but a husband rather than a wife lol) and I am 100% with you on no more party life. A big night for us includes a couple of movies from Blockbuster, a mess of fresh crab, and a couple of Mikes. Now THATS a party. lol
I don’t get the politics either and I live here. hummmmmmm I’m just confused maybe dumb too, but whatever. All I care to do is the best for my family; keep us all happy and okay. For us, we can live here on the Oregon Coast and do that. That’s all I know.

Sorry, I didn't mean to call you a man.. I didnt know. I know now. =) Wish the internet came with pictures and emotions.. lol. And Applebees is not all that. There must be something on the menu or a commercial you saw that make you pine for one though, what is it, curious minds want to know.
Your nite sounds like ours too.

It is you who took the bait.
If you call memorization, and liberal think well educated then it is you who have proven my point. If my neck is red, it is from the So. Oregon sunshine beating down on it during a hard days work, and it is a blessing. Thanks for reminding me.

If so they spend most of the $ as well. ODOT could give a rip about the roads down here, they spend no money on local parks, of which we have many county and city parks. They trickle dismal amounts of money back to our schools, the county and city offer police protection, the 2 state police have a very small pressence. I'll give you the fire one.
thanks for the redneck compliment. I've worked for it.

Mapleton/Reedsport
The casino in Florence always seems to have jobs if applicants can pass the background and drug tests. I'm not sure if the casino in Coos Bay has the same problem with tests. Moving slightly inland (14 miles) makes the rentals much cheaper for working in Florence. I think you can get the World paper out of Coos online to see what is available. Reedsport is a super nice little town if you can get work. Oregon is incredible, the west side is at least-I don't do desert on the other side. You just need to know if you are coming from a cheap living situation that you may find it more expensive here.

Hostility Thread
It seems to me that there is a lot of complaining from people about where they live right now, and that they think moving to a new place is going to magically solve all of their problems. Incidently the only reason I may eventually move is my irritating habit of spending money on this house, my wife, and my kids, which hasn't exactly ensured a zero balance when we retire, lol. We love it here in the Monterey area and are 3rd generation residents. Our biggest regret will be leaving the grandkids, our kids have their own lives to live, and their own triumphs and failures to experience. My point is that if you're not happy where you are right now, you may not be happy anywhere. There's good and bad aspects to every location, and maybe it's a better choice to appreciate the good and try to humbly improve the bad where possible. Believe it or not, you may not have all the answers, as you get older that becomes more evident. As for Republican, Democrat, Independent, Liberal, Conservative, so what! In the final analysis, how you treat your family and friends is really all that matters. The respect and love that you give them will be returned in kind.

There is no hostility here, just tired of people putting down Southern Oregon, I love where I live, that is why I defend it.
I live here because of my Family, I make choices every day that benefit my family. If you have read my posts you would know that.
I disagree with your assessment on politics. As Americans and human beings, it is our responsibilty to vote our conscience and that is generally filtered down to political parties (I did not create the system) but must work within it. Which is also a family value. Look at nations that don't have this freedom and tell me which one you would rather live in. Family and Friends are indeed important, but far from the only responsibilities we are to carry.
