Here are a few pictures of the coast of Oregon I took on my trip. I have more if anyone wants them emailed. I have pictures of Portland, a couple of Corvallis, quite a few of Eugene and many of the coast... I just loved the coast. I loved it all actually! Also passed through Albany twice and never smelled anything bad that people have mentioned from the paper plant.

As you can see it was very clear and sunny the whole time we were there in the end of December! Nice, very nice!

LOVE the pics Des!! Fun too, cuz I can pinpoint where you were standing in the first and last pic. Now were the Sea Lions the ones in Newport? - did you make it to the undersea gardens/wax museum/Ripleys? Always a fun way to spend a day! (well, the kids werent too hot on the wax museum at parts. LOL) PLEASE tell me you got some fresh crab while you were at the beach!
Im glad it wasnt raining while you were along here!

I didn't eat at the coast sorry! Actually.... we stopped at Taco Bell. I didn't want to I swear! The Oregonians wanted to lol. I was in Newport and Florence but we didn't go to any of the touristy spots like the undersea gardens or wax museum. We have all that stuff in California so it's not that interesting to me. I'm not much of a sea food eater anyway. I do love clam chowder though. I had some in Portland but I wasn't impressed. Every place I ate the food was just ok but maybe I didn't go to the right places.

Taco bell....sigh.....(shakin head in sad disbelief) sigh.
lol
Mo's has good chowder, and personally, i really like the chowder at Willets. Its some bitty little diner here that looks like the food would be pretty low end (and actually, i cant recommend anything else there, sorry) but the chowder, i really like, and Im not much of a chowder person.
now just wait, when you move here, let me know, and THEN I'll tell you the best places to eat. LOL

Okay you better! I'm counting on the locals for great suggestions. And of course I'll have to come visit Coos Bay but my friends said it was way too far and they wouldn't drive us there. I tried though!!

Yeah, I'm one of the Coasties that doesn't really like seafood either. In the Newport/Florence areas, there are some cute 50's diners that we always try to stop at.

*Oh yeah, really good color in your pictures. Thank you for sharing.

Its an up and coming area. Cruise ships are now docking in Astoria. Perfect time to move there and open a restaurant.
