Thanks so much for the pictures. They sure do bring back memories. I forgot how you could actually go to the beach and not have hundreds of people around. I'm heading up to Oregon at beginning of July. I can't wait.
Thanks again. You really take some awesome pictures. And if you put that Oregon calendar together I'll buy one. LOL.

Wow Ajpacino,
Brookings was actually our favorite place along the entire coast in terms of raw beauty. So if you are moving there you are going to love it. At least I know I would.
Actually all of my pictures which say Samuel Boardman SP are from Brookings. Samuel Boardman SP is on the northern side of town. We actually stayed at the Whaleshead Resort which is within SBSP and drove to Brookings for meals, shopping, etc...
Here is a link to this gorgeous park - Samuel Boardman State Park
And here is the park map: SBSP Map
Here is a picture from our deck at the Whaleshead Beach Resort:
And another from the beach below:
We also liked the town itself a lot as far as the layout, amenities and overall vibe which seems to vary a lot from one coastal town to the next.

Well, our cabin had a full kitchen so we ate in a lot. But the times we did go out we found nice restaurants and friendly service. I can't remember the names of hand though. As far as shopping they had nice 'newer' larger makets, etc...
In some of the coastal towns the stores seemed a bit more, well, run down. And the roads aren't very well laid out. Brookings just seemed to be better thought out and a nice size overall - not too large or small. My wife is very picky about that sort of thing. And when I asked her which Oregon beach town she liked the best after seeing them all she said Brookings without even thinking twice. I tend to agree.
There is another quality which is harder to put into words. But vibe is the best way I can describe it. Brookings just seemed more upbeat and the people a bit more friendly, not that the other places weren't. That was just what we experienced while there. The banana belt factor is a big plus also and proximity to the Redwoods, Crater Lake, beautiful coastline, etc...
I hope you enjoy your new home! Please update us on 'Your' adventure as it unfolds. I would very much like to hear how it goes.
Take care,
Derek

Stunning......
your pics make me want to change my dream retirement home from Yachats to Brookings. Not that I dont love living here in Coos Bay, but.....
lol, btw, well said about how some of the stores do seem "run down" that was very well put. And as a coastal resident, I agree.
Brookings is one of my husbands fav. places too. He says its more like what a beach town ideal should be.
Thanks so much for taking the time and effort yet again to post more pics. Always a joy to come on and see them!
