My uncle moved to Lakeview about 5 years ago (yep, from NoCal) and he LOVES it! But, it was exactly what he was looking for....very rural, smalltown, low key.
I couldn't handle it, but to each his own.

Anyone have any info on what Lakeview has in the way of Special Ed? Do they have a dedicated class, or resource only? thank you!

Thumbs up Thoughts on Lakeview, OR

I loved Lakeview. We lived there when I was younger (went to grammar school - Union Elementary) and some high school there. I still don't have it out of my blood. I loved that place and the people. Everyone is your neighbor! It's a place where time has stood still (practically). I want to retire and live there. Excellent place to raise kids and lots of outdoor activity. Don't miss the Labor Day Rodeo. Good luck. I think Lakeview is a best kept secret...................

We went to the Spectrum Sunstones mine and because i desperately needed a place to shower and decently sleep ( couldn't do it in the car after a 12 hour drive from LA and digging all day) we went to Lakeview. We stayed at the Budget Inn. A very simple but very clean (and comfortable bed!) motel with a very friendly and attentive manager/owner (?).
The town is a charm and the people are sweet.
I noticed some raised eyebrows, stares and the little talk when we were driving and when i went in a store to ask for a western union, surely because of the filthy Hummer, or maybe because i myself was dirty from the digging (but the didn't know!) and maybe even because i have a bunch of tattoos.... But you know; the lady at the Chevron gas station was a sweety - i didn't know in Oregon gas was full service! You don't get out of the car to fill up ur tank! And the girl at the western union inside Safeway ( a supermarket) was very cordial and helpful.
Lakeview is a cute town with a charm of it's own and we're planning going back to Spectrum mine in a couple of months and surely will rest at the Budget Inn and hoppefuly get to eat at the Burger Queen. (it was closed when we decided to eat...)
Oh yeah! Forgot to say one bad thing about Lakeview: stores close at 5:30
Besides that, it's a cute little town!!!
Hope you guys raise good funs for Addie in the Spaghetti fund raiser!!!

Default Lakeview area homes

I have been doing online searches for a home with land outside Lakeview and have found very little. Is there any available? Maybe everyone in Lakeview wants to stay? I could understand that, it is gorgeous, homey and refreshingly slower paced. Any ideas for me?

Default rumor

Hi there,

I've been to Lakeview many times... lived a summer in ranch land between Bly and Bonanza, OR. It is VERY far away from any big city, but it's beautiful! You can have a whole lake to yourself, and see antelope, hear cayotes, bald eagles, etc...

I heard a rumor, have no way of knowing if it's true, that the town gives college scholarships to all it's students (sh...). I knew several people who went to school there, and apparently it has a great school. Although that was many years ago before Oregon lost so much of its funding for schools. It's very much an open range type of place. Lots of cattle and natural resource people. Small town though... I think they're also "known" for great hang gliding. It's very open, so it is windy there, but never that bad when I was there. Winters I hear can be COLD, and it is high desert. HTH

Default Pot smokers

Hi I lived in Lakeview while I was in jr high and moved right after I started high school, let me give you a teens perspective. First of all, Lakeview is beautifull but since theres not a mall, good restraunts, or anything fun for people to do(besides skiing) people have their own fun. All but one of my friends ended up being big pot smokers and they drank/partied all the time, my friend's sister went to jail for selling drugs. Its a great place for like old retired couples but not for teens. Unless you want them to be druggies. They do have a really great scolarship program through the high school though thats kind of nice. Oh and your teen will think its torture if you move them there. Its so boring, you have to drive to Klamath if you want to do any type of shopping at all and the high school sports team....I'll stop there, just dont move to lakeview unless your an old retired person who enjoys the outdoors.

If your job is in forestry or another outdoor job I'd say lucky you! Lakeview is far from any other major town, but it has all you need and you can make weekend gettaways to Bend when you want more "city life". The scenery is wonderful from big pines to desert sage, tree covered hills, to craggy rock bluffs. Lots of natural hot springs too...you can see them steaming up randomly when you're driving thru.

Default Ghosts at the Budget Inn in Lakeview?

I had a bizarre ghost experience in the Budget Inn in Lakeview, Oregon while driving cross country. I won't bore you with the whole story but...knocking at the bathroom door. My first brush. Z
