LOL, Des Demona
"In Oregon, it was really cold, the temps were anywhere from 28-46ish "
That statement does more than any other to show how temperature and climate acceptability are truly an individual thing.
"Really cold" doesn't start until -20. LOL

I lived many years in North Dakota and have been out in temperatures that were -40 (once had to a dig a car out of the snow with a -79 wind chill factor). Yet, I would have to say some of the coldest moments I've ever felt have been in western Oregon and Washington when it was below 50 but above freezing (one memorable hypothermic event was in summer).
What wind is on the prairies, humidity is to maritime climates. In a dry cold, you can bundle up and stay dry. Cold humidity cuts to the bone and provokes your body to perspire inside your clothing making you damp from the inside as well as the outside. So you can't stay dry and you can't get warm again once you're damp. It's a different kind of cold from the kind that makes icicles on your beard, but it's mighty uncomfortable if your exposure to it is extended and you're not prepared for it. And I think that's the problem: everyone knows how to dress for arctic weather, but most people will underdress...or dress improperly...for 45 degree weather with 98% humidity.

Just like hunger, weather is all in how you perceive it. "I'm STARVING!" can mean completely different things depending on who's saying it. Same with "I'm FREEZING!"
Also, wind-chill factor makes a HUGE difference. And (I know: duh) what you're wearing. As well as blood circulation. Some people are just naturally warmer or colder than others.
A 35 degree sunny wind-less Oregon day is a completely different thing to, say, an overcast windy 35 degree day in Boston. In March. Ugh.
I'm very much looking forward to sunshine & snow!

Stay away from Medford
If you are wanting to move to Oregon, anything from Eugene and north is your best bet. Ashland is okay, but it's polluted with many horrible closed-minded people from the Rogue Valley. This post may be bias because I grew up there, but Medford is the only place where threats to have my face beaten into the ground have been made as I shop for socks. Also, the public libraries were closed for 8 months because people would rather have cheap cable and a Super Wal-Mart. Honestly, I'd rather be back in Iraq rather than go back to Medford.

Then GET OUT! If you don't like it why do you stay. Medford isn't a bad town. I you have a positive outlook and treat others well then you will be treated well.
