I would like to know what the lower rent prices would be near town and just out of town of Oakridge ?
Is Oakridge one of those tidy little new retirement communities ? With lots of little apartment buildings and so on ?
Or more normal small town community in the woods ?
How well do gardens grow there, and does it frost yearly ?
Do you get hail storms or frozzen rain ?
Thanks to any one that can help !!

Here's some recent "for rent" listings in the local weekly paper:
"Small One Bedroom Apartment" - $325.00
"3 Bedroom, 2 Bath", West end of football field, carport, great views, $675 + deposits
"2 Bedroom Mobile In Park", Appliances, nice. $500-$550
"2 Bedroom Duplex", Appliances & garage, $300/mo+deposits
"1 Bedroom 1 Bath Duplex", Recently updated. Landlord pays water, sewer, and trash. First, last plus $300 deposit. $425/mo.
I am not sure what you mean by "tidy little new retirement community". Oakridge is not a "new" town, but it is one in transition. It's heyday was during the timber boom, but that was shut down which hit the community pretty hard. There are several promising new businesses looking to make Oakridge its home, which should mean hundreds of new jobs and a great boost for the local economy. There are many older vacant buildings, but they are slowly being replaced by newer buildings and new businesses. Same goes with the housing. Lots of older homes, but there are some new sub-divisions going in which will means lots of new homes.
There are not a lot of apartments, but you wouldn't normally find a lot of apartments in a town this size.
We certainly have gardens. The growing season is slightly shorter than Eugene because we are at a slightly higher elevation.
Does it frost? Of course! Where in Oregon doesn't it frost? LOL
Much like the rest of Oregon, we get a variety of weather, but we certainly aren't known for hail storms or frozen rain.
What we are known for is a place where the sun shines almost every day. Yes, sometimes in the winter, it may peek out for only a few moments.
The climate motto here is "above the fog line and below the snow line", which is quite accurate. You can be socked in at Eugene all day and drive to Oakridge and get out of the fog half way to Oakridge. Then, you can keep driving past Oakridge and hit the snow a files down the road.
Hope that helps!
