Default Police work in oregon

Hello,
I'm currently finishing up school witha degree in criminal justice. I've been wanting to move out of iowa for awhile now, and out to the west coast. Reason being is all the times i've been out there i've loved it. Anyways i was wondering whats it like finding work and or workin as a police officer in oregon?
I'll be posting this on a few other threads to just to get an idea of what it would be like in other places as well.

You have to take the tests in order to even be considered. The process is quite difficult from what I understand.

Try the Portland Police Bureau...they are really looking for people right now. I think Salem is also hiring in addition to the county I live in, Washington. They seem to be always hiring for Deputy Sheriff's, CO's, etc. http://www.washington.co.or.us

Good luck!

The State Police are recruiting very earnestly right now. Keep in mind that recruits now get a stipend earlier in the training program than before, and that a few weeks of the course are residential, in a barracks setting.

I would recommend it for someone looking into police work in this region. The State Police have a good benefits program and competitive salary rates with other state police agencies.
