Thrift Stores & Used Cars (Medford, Aloha: sales, job transfer, costs)

So my husband applied for a job transfer to Medford. So far they have already called his boss here and he gave hubby a glowing review. So fingers crossed we may be FINALLY making this move from Hawaii to Oregon by mid September!

I started really looking at shipping costs and I am freaked out! The newly increased fuel surcharges are tacking on a pretty hefty price tag. Honestly I think short of about 3 family pieces we are thinking of selling all our furniture etc and going as light as possible.

How's the second hand shopping in the valley? Are there deals to be had on beds, dressers, kitchen stuff, computer desks? Keep in mind we have six kids and need nothing fancy, functional first, pretty second, lol.

Are people still having Garage sales in September? I have been looking at Craigslist and have seen some good deals there.

Also I would sell my minivan. DH would ship his work truck. Can I get some recomendations on some honest used car lots? I have to get something that seats 8+ if that makes a difference.
