What do you think about Beaverton
Another friend moved to Beaverton. Can you tell me what its like there. What are the winters like there. I hear today is a nice 75-80 degrees. While I am in the desert with 105. Can 't take it any more.
We are retired and would like to be some what out of the city. Not to far from the store and vets and doctors. Is it a pretty nice town or run down. We are not rich but would like to be in a safe place.
Thank you as always.

We moved to Beaverton 2 years ago from the 105 degrees (phoenix/Scottsdale), thought we couldn't take it anymore but realize now that 2-3 months of 100's is much better than 9 months of rain. We are trying to get out. Make sure you find the area you want before you commit. In a word Beaverton is kind of lame exept in the north part, north of the sunset highway, otherwise Hillsboro is getting much better but the place we like the most was West Linn. More affordable but a little further out is Sherwood which is nice. Beaverton seems to be showing its age, not well, and just doesnt seem like it is planned out well. Good Luck!

Beaverton is not planned out well; traffic is atrocious. That being said, there's some wonderful areas like Murrayhill where I used to live. Downtown sucks and the area along Beaverton-Hillsdale Highway and Canyon Road sucks. Other than that, I think it's pretty nice.

Wow, thank you very much. I guess I'll keep on looking. I really like Grant Pass but don't think we can afford it there.

Murrayhill isn't wonderful, it's yuppieland. It has no character. It's South California at its worst.

Beaverton is safe. It's suburban. It's not the richest place in the world, but they do care about schools, the city is well-run, and they have a wonderful library.
It doesn't really have a downtown per se; that part is developing slowly.
You will find rain from mid-October to April, not quite nonstop, but 80-90% of the time. On the other hand, everything is green, and your skin will stay soft. If you live close to Max, you can zip downtown or to the airport, or to the Expo Center.
