Will you be on grid? You might also look at getting Pacific Power out to hook up electrical. Then you can come out and live in an RV for bits of the summer.
Also, when you are having the electric panel put in, have them put in the auxiliary wiring and sub panel for an emergency generator in case of power outage. Things like the well pump (likely 220), the refrigerator, some of the lights. We haven't had many power outages in the 18 months I've lived out here but it's possible to get a bad winter storm and be without power for a week or so. The power company tends to prioritize the populated areas and then work out toward the less populated, so we're down on the list.

I also have a couple acres near Bonanza and would like to hear how you have done so far with the well, and preparing the property for building. Any progress?

Welcome to Bonanza, y'all. We moved here 10 years ago and love it. It's true, folks are really friendly. For a well, I second the suggestion to call Roger Chancellor. He's competitive and reliable. My husband builds houses - we refer a lot of owners to Roger and he treats them right. We've also drilled 2 wells on our own property, so I can report good personal experience as well. For grading and septic - talk to Dan Smith at D&R Dumptruck. Good guy and close, so you won't be paying an arm and a leg to move the equipment onto the site. Klamath County is great to work with. Send me an email offline if you want more help. annie@kfalls.net YOU'RE GOING TO LOVE LIVING HERE!
