Default Oregon Coast real estate

For those who live on the coast, do you like it? We are looking at places like Newport, Depoe Bay, etc. I've always loved the _idea_ of having a ocean view home but not sure about the cons associated with living in that type of environment such as lack of stores (I really need easy access to good produce because cooking is my passion), neighbors, rural setting, etc. Can anyone shed some light? Weather and good medical care are some of my major concern of mine.

I hate to say it but weather can be a definate negative unless you like gloom and rain in the winter. (along with major wind storms).

You'll find urgent care type hospitals but no specialties until you get to major population centers like Portland.

There are farmers markets in the summer but year round places like Whole Foods or New Seasons don't exist on the coast.

Coastal living can be very relaxing but it can also be boring. Give it lots of thought and try it before you make a major commitment.

Thank you for your opinion. Although beautiful, living there does not sound like our cup of tea. Maybe it's a case of going around the world looking for the perfect place and find out after much searching, you have always been there all along.

I'll add that if you do live in one of the more tourist oriented beach towns, a plus is that they never get boring, even in the middle of winter. There is always something going on in Lincoln City, all year long.
