I've finally narrowed my search of workin for police departments to the state troopers. Reason being i figured since i don't know the state that well that if i can get on with the state troopers then i could get to know the state by where they assign me.
Now i've looked at the trooper website and am very impressed with it. I was just wondering if there is anybody that could give me some personal insight on whats it like working for the state troopers?

I could give you much info. Feel free to pm me. I spent 4.5 years working for oregon state police. There are many issues to beware of.

Not the least of which ... OSP does not have dedicated funding and when a budget crisis hits in this state, OSP is one of the first agencies to take severe cuts. This is why the agency laid off 129 troopers in 2003.

There are other major problems with the agency. I would not recommend it to anyone. I have worked for several state agencies in two different states in my professional career. There are far better places to work.
