Default Prineville Area

I've recently contacted a company and they will have openings for my skills in this area. I did graduate from Central Oregon College a million years ago and did spend some time in the Redmond and Prineville areas and lived in places from LaPine to North of Bend. I'm an out door person I have horses, dogs, cats ect. So I'll be looking for a small critter property. It's just me so I don't need to worry about schools and kiddy activities.

It's been since the dark ages (late 60's early 70's) since I lived and played in the area so....

I'd like to hear from anyone living and working there. I do know I will need to commute to Bend for the "big stores" however, is there a grocery store in Prineville? Not just the mini-mart types. And Tack/Feed stores?

From what I gather Prineville is very "horse" oriented community and that suits me fine. Trail riding will be my big out door activity other than working on my property. Also, is anyone a member of the local Backcountry horseman club?

Hi returning west, my family and I have lived in Prineville for 15 yrs. There are 3 grocery stores and 2 feed stores. We have a Wal-mart Superstore that's only been open for a week now and it's huge. It's in Redmond about 18 miles away. Redmond is also in the process of building a Lowes and Home Depot so won't have to go to Bend for those stores, but the majority of the other stores like Costco, Penneys etc. are in Bend. Prineville's population is now at 9,990 and growing very fast. Hope this info. helps.

Hello - We're thinking of moving to Prineville at Ochoco West about 10 miles from town.
Can anyone tell me about this neighborhood?

Why is Prineville "growing very fast"? What's bringing people in?

I don't live there but visit frequently so I know there are at least 2 supermarkets. Ray's (Thriftway I think), which is big and well stocked, and Price Slasher. And yes, I have seen at least one Tack/Feed Store.

Very high unemployment there. Lots of struggling people.

Doh!

Still, I didn't know that Prineville had EVER grown very fast...it sure never seemed to when I was around.
