Default moving to portland area

I currently live in Northern Calif and I just accepted a position in Portland. I visited Tigard, Sherwood and Happy Valley 2 weeks ago. I thought Happy Valley was very nice but I don't know if there are other ares that would be better. I am looking for homes in a range between $400K - $600K. I am looking for an area that is very safe and upscale. I'm not a yuppie but I like friendly towns. I prefer new to old shopping areas.

Please help.

I live in Sherwood, so if you have any questions feel free to ask. We moved back here almost 5 years ago and love it. The schools are good, there is a lot of nice housing at reasonable prices, and while the town is growing it still feels small while having all the things we need. My DH also works in Portland, and when he was in downtown it would take him about 35 minutes. This was by taking back roads to I-5 instead of Tualatin Sherwood Road, which would add a lot more time.
