Default Best career fields in Oregon
I wanted to know what the best types of jobs there are to have in the state of Oregon (outside of medical). I'm looking into school counseling/community counseling and have noticed tons of jobs for community counseling in the city of Portland. I'm currently a graphic designer and have noticed there are very few jobs in Portland.

The "general wisdom" I hear is two fields: medical and government. Since you eliminated medical, that leaves government. Govt jobs here are apparently comparatively lucrative. I don't have any firsthand knowledge on this, however.
