Hi all!
You might remember me from last month. I had questions about where to stay, what to see and restaurant suggestions for : Ashland, Florence, Newport, Mcminnville and Eugene. Just thought I'd thank you all and report back on our favorite parts. My husband and I drove up from Southern California, looking for a town to relocate to. We saw so much so quickly, it's taken a while to absorb it all!

But it was amazing, what a beautiful, magical state!
We were on a budget, so I'm sure there were ritzier places to stay, but we were comfy. In Ashland we just needed a place to crash after driving 11 hours, so the Econo Lodge was good, and just $55, continental breakfast included. We liked Lithia Park and the trees were so beautiful. I didn't realize that Oregon had so many decidious (sp?) trees. All the gold and red leaves were amazing.
The hotel we stayed in Florence was Ok, but the meal we had at the Waterfront Depot was outstanding. The next night we stayed at the Moolack Shores motel just north of Newport. It was right on the beach, clean and very reasonable. We had diner at our favorite restaurant on the coast The Saffron Salmon. (a bit of a splurge, but worth it!)
The next night we stayed in Mcminnville at the Mcmenimins Hotel Oregon. What a cute town and a fun place to stay. We loved the bar on the rooftop, what a great view! In regards to relocating, this was our favorite town and I do have some questions, but I'll put them in another post.
From there we drove through Corvallis and went to their farmers market, great vibe from the people there, but the downtown area (except where the market was) was empty and lots of businesses closed. Then we stayed 2 nights at a B and B in Eugene (2 nights here because this is where I thought I wanted to live) Hubby was not comfortable in the B and B, because as you know, it is someone's house (Ladies, What was I thinking?

) Eugene was hippie fun at the Saturday Mart and we went to a Mushroom Festival too, that was so cool! But just as I had feared, my husband thought it was too crowded to live in Eugene and a little seedy in some places. Oh yeah we had diner at the Electric Co, really good!
Anyway, It was an amazing and quick tour of Oregon and i just wanted to report back and thank you all, Please read my next post. Its a question about Mcminnville and any other comparable small towns.
