Eugene (if I could find a job there) or Bend (if I could afford it). I'm currently in Portland, and as much as I do enjoy this city for all it has to offer, there are just too many people here. I blame this on being raised in a small town on Oregon's South Coast (which is nice to visit, but I won't live there again). All of the posts about LaGrande have piqued my interest, though. I may have to plan a road trip in the near future.

We have a home up above Ashland but if you would like the best of both worlds...Shoot straight for this town rather than any of the rest. You won't be disappointed!

Considering the fact that our winter temps stay around a steady 50 degrees with maybe one light dusting of snow (which I would call hail rather than snow) throughout the whole winter season, I don't mind the rain. And, don't let "the rain" scare you off. With the constant ocean breezes, we dry out very fast. The tourists actually come over here just to watch our booming seastorms crashing the coastline during the winter months. As for fog, well, I do know that it seems like the northern coastline, like Astoria, gets more rain. I personally prefer the South Coast.

hi , umm so im looking for a place for my boyfriend and i to move to . and im not familiar with the area at all , but both him and i want to live on the beach , where it doesnt rain all the time , nice weather , 2-4 different seasons , and very little if any snow .. he is a pharmacist , and i a student looking for a degree in teaching , so there would need to be a uni near by, or at least a collage . we're really just looking to start our lives together . we're not that well off so not tooo expensive housing .. and i think the south coast would be better for us . from your previous messages.. could you help me out maybe ?

Silverton sounds tempting (water falls, small walkable community & interesting architecture from what I read on CD) but I'm thinking it's less sunny than where I am & farther from the CA border (mom is in CA).

I'm pretty much stuck in Eugene. At least Eugene is a really neat place to live *smiles!* If I had a job, I guess life would be pretty much perfect here.

Bend, hands down. Will be buying a house there once I am done with school here in Tahoe. Can't wait!

Wow, that's a hard one. I grew up in the Gorge (Eastern end), attended EOSC (Eastern Oregon State College, now Eastern Oregn University) for a year in LaGrande. I love LaGrande area, however I also like the convience of being close to the airport, etc. I guess Boise would have an airport. I also like Corvallis, Salem, and the small towns outside of salem.

For now I will stay in Western Oregon because my family is here.

Top possibilities:

Yachats--the first time I was ever there the laundry was for sale and I just knew I could spend half my days tending it and the other half writing poetry at the beach. I still could.

Next to the Tillamook Cheese Factory. If you are gonna die, dying of this cheese is the way to go.

Glascow, near Coos Bay. I'd love to look over at the rest of the bay from that vantage point.
