Wink If You Could Live Anywhere In Oregon

Some of you may live where you are at because of a job or school. Suppose you had your choice of living anywhere in Oregon.

Where would you choose to live and why?

Definitely Central Oregon. Anywhere from Sisters to Bend or Redmond to Prineville or anywhere like that in the wonderful High Desert.

Cool Coast

The main reason I moved to the coast a few years back was because wanted to get away from the snow and extreme cold.

So the lack of sunshine does not bother u over time? And how hard is it to find a job there?

Also, no one talks about the dampness after the rains? Doesn't it get damp there?

Default The Coast

Hands down, the Coast. The mild temps, the ocean breezes, just the beautiful flowers everywhere, it's a secret paradise over here. It's like being on vacation every day.

Default La Grande, Oregon

The coast is nice, but living in that rain and fog and dreary weather over time can get on one's nerves. One puts up with weeks of dreary drizzly overcast wet weather to get the priviledge of one spectacular sunny day on the coast. I lived a few years in La Grande, Oregon as a child and remember it fondly. My mother still pines for La Grande (she's stuck in Central California now). It's a wonderful town with a traditional downtown, fine neighborhoods, college, and in a beautiful setting. The summers are hot and perfect for outdoor activity. Winters can be bitter, though I don't recall it snowing in heaps, usually just a few inches at a time, though rather frequently in the winter. There are pine forests surrounding LaGrande in the mountains, and the countryside nearby has ranches and open spaces. It is one of my favorite places to have lived. It was also my alternative to Missouri had I not found what I wanted here.

Default For seashelly

Seashelly, do you live on the coast and for how long. Which is your favorite coastal town and how do you make it through the winters? Is there an area on the coast that has less fog than others? Thanks in advance, oregon bound (someday!)

Default To Oregon Bound

Yes, I've lived along the South Coast for about 12 years now. LOL at "how do you make it through the winters". Considering the fact that our winter temps stay around a steady 50 degrees with maybe one light dusting of snow (which I would call hail rather than snow) throughout the whole winter season, I don't mind the rain. And, don't let "the rain" scare you off. With the constant ocean breezes, we dry out very fast. The tourists actually come over here just to watch our booming seastorms crashing the coastline during the winter months. As for fog, well, I do know that it seems like the northern coastline, like Astoria, gets more rain. I personally prefer the South Coast.
