It depends on who else is there. I was out in the Alvord Desert and went to the hot spring there at night, which is clothing optional (I had mine on, thank you). It was very relaxed and quiet and wonderful. I've been to the one up on Hood and it was a big drunken party and we left quickly.

Sounds like my experience at a clothing optional hot spring in Idaho. I went with my sister, and we were trying to get to a relatively unknown spring, but the weather was awful. We went in February, so the snow was deep. We decided to instead go to the more frequented hot spring, but she assured me it was still nice. We got there and there were numerous large pools. There was a large group of men in one of the pools, so we selected the pool furthest from them. As soon as we got in, this group of drunk men decided to join us. Ruined my clothing optional experience! Always at least take a bathing suite with you. That way, if it's too weird, you can put it on.

Might be a ways from you, but there is one about 20 miles west of Twin Falls Idaho, in the Hagerman valley. Miracle Springs. It has a lerge thermal pool in the center (clothing required) and a number of smaller private pools around it, seperated by walls. Totally private. all open air. I recommend it.
