Of course it does rain all the time, every day, on and on. LOL.

Oh, excellent, I'm in good company! We will sell and give up the equity on our one ranch, keep the other and rent it out...we gotta GO! My guy will be going home, I will be starting a great new adventure in Oregon!
I've been Craigslisting and eBaying extra baggage like crazy to prepare for the move!
Can't wait for the rain....

Karla T2, my pix are Lincoln City. Tiffela, your pix are breathtakingly beautiful!!!! Wow, still can't believe it's January.
As far as telling anyone which coastal town is best, I can't. It just depends on what you want. For me, I like miles of walking beach. Some people might like watching waves crash on craggy cliffs. Also, sometimes I like solitude, but other times I find it fun to be on the beach amongst the tourists, who are loving the ocean like I do. Today, on the beach, I met a lady who had the same breed of dog as I do, and she had just come to the beach for a day to get her "fix". It was fun talking with her. Sometimes, I am about the only one on the beach and I like that too. So, for me, Lincoln City works. But, I could probably be happy anywhere on the coast as long as it had a nice beach to walk on. I love beachcombing! I think each place has its own beauty though. How can you go wrong anywhere if you are on the Oregon coast?!

Ah, Lincoln City. I should have known. I've spent many an hour walking those beaches, but it's been awhile. Thank you for posting the pics.

I wanted to tell you good folks that I have started a blog here that will tell my story regarding my escape from California and the arrival in Oregon. From thinning my possesions and animal herds to the building and set up of our antique store in Allegany, Oregon (only 20 miles from the coast!!!)...all the grisly details will be posted.

tiffela..... I think I want it all..... long stretches of white sand, to live within 2 miles of the beach, shopping also within one mile, medical services close by, an excellent fitness center with indoor pool is especially important to me; which coast town would you recommend for me ?

Well, we live in Coos Bay and have all that. Have you come and visited here? The only thing is, not a lot of great shopping.....but besides the outlet stores in LC, i dont think any beach town has got much shopping anywhere.....although, here in CB, we DO boast the only indoor mall on the coast. Google Pony Village Mall and you'll see what we've got.
I believe Newport and Lincoln City would fit your needs as well.....maybe Florence?
Watch walkin in the sand though til that toe heals up!

Who needs shopping with all that beach?! I can't get enough of the trees and beach and oh, I love the look of bright green moss on the trees along the different trails. Really neat ones along the trail to the Heceta Lighthouse too.

Coos bay use to be the place we came to vacation before moving to Eugene last Feb, and I can say it had everything we wanted, if I could have found a job there I would have! Florence and Newport are also great options for you I think.
BTW so jealous of Tiffela!

lol uiier! Sorry you couldnt find a job out here! Theres a lotta folks having that same prob. Im just verrrry fortunate to have a rather unusual job that most people can not do. My husband went through THREE jobs here, then lo and behold, the perfect job for him opened up and he snagged it. So we got pretty darn lucky!
I chatted up a fellow in McDs the other day, who moved here from Eastern Oregon, he took the job there at McDs just to be able to move here and live here. wow.
I got an evil text from a dear friend today....she lives up by Gaston and woke up to snow again today. hehehehe. She hates the snow at this point, and is envious of the weather here along the coast. It was chilly here, I actually had to grab a sweatshirt for my walk into work!!! shocking! And in January no less!! humph! LOL! I sent her a picture of my yard and the dry road out in front of it. hehe. Of course, it did sprinkle off and on today, but thats okay. No ice, no snow, no problem.
Truly, living here is more laid back than anywhere else ive ever lived. Its dropped our stress levels down conciderably, and when I get overwhelmed or anything, its a quick jaunt down to the beach to unwind and get back into a happy place again. Regardless of the weather, the ocean always sooths me. I dont want to ever live anywhere that I cant be at the beach within minutes. No way!
Uiier, you ever think about still trying to make it out here?

Well once we sell our house in Utah we may actually buy a beach house for our families to share and use when they visit Oregon, and of course for us to have a weekend getaway place, who knows when that will be though. My wife and I both have stable and well paying jobs in Eugene, I don't think anything would get us to move away from that in this economy.
Don't worry though, we visit often, so expect to see us around your beaches! Bastendorf and Sunset bay are one of my two favorite places
