my Mil and Fil live in Dune City, just out of Florence, they really really like the area...They bought a resort, plus, my FIL got a job there in town, about 2yrs ago, so yea, it is possible to get a job there even if youre a newcomer and youre older than 25.
I know it was rated either the #1, or close to, for place in America to retire to. So prices of homes are going up, but depending on where youre coming from, could still be affordable...you can get rentals, my inlaws rent out a couple little cabins lakeside, Im not sure about the studio, but the 1bdrm they rent for 400.00month, and its right on the lake, and fully furnished, plus they pay some of the utilities. Not too bad of a deal i think.
anyhow, I love Old Town Florence! Lots of neat little shops and some good places to eat. IMO its a clean little town, not a whole lot of excitement there, but there is a newer casino! And if your into fishing/ATVs/hiking/kayaking/waterskiing/beachcombing/etc. stuff like that, you could be quite happy there...
Their weather is a bit more severe than ours is here in CoosBay, The winds seem to hit a bit harder, and they did get a wee bit of snow a week or so ago...of course, it was gone by afternoon, but still, it DID snow..lol Also, they might get more wind too since they are on a lake...just a thought....but temps seem to be a few degrees higher for them as well.
anyhow, thats just my thoughts.
