OK, I did not read the comment this other reader made. OK, old houses can have their charm, ok, but I think most people would agree with me with this opionion. Ultimetaly, it is all opinions, and people have different views..there are also different areas in the different places etc. anyhow, freedom of speech I believe we have in this country.

Gotta agree with this. I love Bandon... It's beautiful. But Coos Bay is just run down and depressing looking, though in my experience people have always been very friendly there. But the physical place itself, Coos Bay, is not as desireable as Bandon is, in my opinion. Coos Bay is much cheaper so I think many people have found this to be the case as well. I'd rather live in Coos Bay than somewhere like Roseburg or Klamath Falls, or even the Medford area. Coos Bay at least has some character to it with the older houses (however run down they may be).

depends on what part of town you are in. I have family, who were totally anti-coosbay, thought it was about the worst, but when we took em around and looked at some of the houses here, they changed their tune!
i do think Bandon is a beautiful place, and has some incredible houses. But so does Coos Bay, theyre just not all showcased on the main strip. Ive said many a time, the part along 101, is enough to depress most anyone! but go along Mingus Park area, or along some of the lesser traveled roads, many of the homes along Cape Arago near Basendorf are to die for and range from the historic homes to some pretty impressive new architecture that are more impressive than homey.
Then theres my home. Which I take great pride in thank you very much. Its not beaten down, or run-down, my yard shows off flowers, shrubs and trees that make me smile each time I come home and know "Thats MINE!" and my neighbors are all of like. Theres newer construction along my neighborhood, and theres some homes with great history. And for most people, none of our homes are anything to turn a nose up to.
You know how theres those rocks, that on the outside are just dirty, gray, blah rocks? Than if you take the time to actually look inside of them, lo and behold, the sparkling colorful crystals that are hidden inside for those who care to take more than a 1st glance. Thats what I think of Coos Bay.

I thought I should post a few pics to back up my reply.....this is just a very small selection, i had driven to Ashland, worked there allday, then drove home again, so these were taken near my home, i didnt want to drive all over, but just took a few to give some back up to my arguement that not all houses here in Coos Bay are old, rundown/nasty/decrepit/etc.

anyhow, i know this is more a Bandon thread, but since there were the comments about how Bandon is better because all of CB is rundown and falling apart, i wanted to show that thats not so true....

I think Bendon is a better choice than Coos Bay. I personally think Florence is even better.

How about we put it this way; Bandon is a prettier 'walkin'around town' kind of place. Coos Bay is more of a working town. Working towns have industry which might not contribute to the overall beauty of a location. Surrounding neighborhoods in both towns have a mix of houses, both old and run-down, spanking new, older and charming, etc. Coos Bay has better shopping and better restaurants, imo. Bandon has more charm.
