Default Relocating to Bend-Need a Place ASAP

Hello,

I am relocating to Bend for a job. I am wondering if anyone might give me some recommendations on where to find a house to rent. Will be working in/ near the North West Crossings neighborhood.

Am coming up to Bend this weekend 2/15 to find a house to rent.

Any suggestions would be appreciated. I am single and have a blind collie mix and an orange tabby. As Marley is blind, I was hoping to find a single level house with a small yard.

Thanks,

E

If someone could make some recommendations privately for a prop managment company that'd be helpful.

You don't mention what you want to pay or your living area preferences. East side will be cheaper than west side, generally speaking. (Bend is small enough that you can live in any part of town and get to where you work). Craigslist has a of listings, just be careful not to get scammed. Try Bend Property Management Company or check the want ads in The Bend Bulletin (on line)

There are several property management companies in Bend. Deschutes Property Management and Bend Property Management are probably the biggest. Check Craigslist as well.

Generally, I prefer to rent from private landlords rather than Property Mgmt. Co's. This is my preference though. In today's reality, you run the risk of getting kicked out because someone is going into forclosure, although I suppose this could happen with a property mgmt. co. also.

You can go to the deschutes county assessor's website and look up tax information on any houses you are interested in renting. You should be able to see if the homeowner is up on their taxes, which could give you an idea whether they are making payments on their mortage.

You can also ask the local Vet's to post a housing wanted note on their bb.

Run a credit check on your landlord. TONS of places to rent.
