Default Lebanon Canal

Can someone tell me what the Lebanon canal was/is used for?

and does it have a good flow year round?

It is used to supply drinking water which is very soft. I used to live right on the canal. The water flows year round.

The canal was greatly improved by the WPA during the Great Depression. Where I lived it looked like a large creek or small river. It was beautiful with shrubbery and flowers growing on the banks. Waterfowl, hummingbirds and nutria loved it.
