I would think so, just yield to any oncoming traffic and make your move quickly just in case.

Yes, you can turn onto a one-way street from a red-light at a two-way street, unless it is marked no turn. I have a relative who was a cop (now retired) who gave a guy a ticket for doing that when he was a newbie ... and he had to go apologize to him when he found out it was legal!

yes, in Oregon the traffic laws allow you to make a left turn onto a one-way street from a two-way stop, as long as traffic allows and the intersection isn't marked "no left turn".

This is one of the questions on the Oregon driver's exam (at least it was on mine several years ago). I sometimes saw people driving in Colorado who did that (where it is NOT legal) and I finally figured out that they were Oregon drivers

OK - how about this one - is it legal to slow down on a highway to allow people to enter from the on ramp ahead of you? This happens to me all the time... either people in front of me slowing down to let people onto the highway, which makes me have to slow down or else I'd hit them, or people slowing down to let me in when I'm on the onramp entering the highway. Freaks me out! I mean... it sure is nice and everything for somebody to slow down so others can get on more easily, but it's also so weird!
Oregon has some of the nicest drivers. Nice to the point of completely being oblivious to traffic laws in order to be nice, you know? Once you get used to it, it's cool, but at first it can be frusterating because you just want to holler at them "Hey! You have the right-of-way dude!" I can't tell you how many times I've been stopped longer than I needed to be at a four-way stop-sign intersection because people were sitting there trying to be overly nice and letting others go first. I'm all like... what happened to the traffic laws regarding right-of-way?
In other places I have lived, it's been the opposite. Especially California. OH my gosh... California driver's will totally run you over if you're not careful. They are awful! They drive so fast and are just oblivious to anyone but themselves. That place is scary.

Actually (stemming from news reports of an incident several years back) it is NOT illegal to basically come to a stop on the freeway. It's still the responsibility of the trailing car not to hit the one in front.
If you don't want to deal with cars entering and exiting the freeway, just stay out of the outside lane. I think it's probably just as dangerous when drivers refuse to let merging traffic in. If they have to come to a complete stop because no one will let them in ... they're an even bigger traffic hazard.
