Question Internet connections in Roseburg and surrounding areas?

Greetings all! My husband and I are going to be moving to the Roseburg area within the next 6 months and we have a home-based graphic/web design business, so fast, reliable internet is important to us.

We're tried to do our research and can kind of get an idea of what is available but would really like to hear from those who live in the area about what it's really like. Last time we were there we saw billboards for Clear Wire (I think that's what it was). Is there cable internet available? How is the DSL? How about satallite?

Thank you in advance!

Were in the Roseburg area are you going to be moving?? Most of the area has reliable internet service. However do to the rural nature of this area, there are some areas that still do not have the ability get some type of high-speed connection. These areas are limited but certainaly do exist. If you know a specific area of which you will be living, I would be happy to provide you with information about who to contact for a high-speed connection.

Thanks,

Brett

Arrow Local ISP's

I can tell you that Clearwire does not work in Winchester (north of Roseburg) or Winston (south of Roseburg). I'm not sure about Sutherlin area, but as far as clearwire goes, it there seems to only be service within the city currently. DSL is available through Comspan I believe it is? Also Qwest has DSL service, but I never had luck with Qwest, and ended up cancelling it. Charter is the only cable internet ISP that I know of in this area. While I don't exactly like Charter either, because the keep raising their prices for no additional services, I was able to sign up for a package that has a lower price of roughly $60 a month for cable and digital cable for 12 months. Shop around. Qwest and Charter are the two big ISP's in the area that are more likely available in more areas, but there are also some local ISP's such as Douglas Fast Net, DC-wireless, etc. Qwest works over existing phone lines with adapters, so any place with phone service through qwest should be able to have Qwest DSL. Likewise, if you're able to have cable, you should be able to get Cable internet through Charter. I'm not sure about satelite internet, but I've heard that weather and local topography plays a roll in poor satelite reception when it comes to satelite internet. I haven't heard complaints about satelite television.
