I recently saw summer jobs posted for ferries that go along the British Columbia coast up to Alaska. You'd need a work visa. The school you are attending should have a list of paid internship possibilities for you, assuming your student adviser has approved you for work.

The Alaska Marine Highway hires Alaska residents only, these days.

There's seasonal work available in Alaska and elsewhere for foreign students, though.
