Looking to move to Oregon! Town suggestions?
Hello all! I am looking to move to Oregon! I am looking for a particular climate and look of the surrounding area though, so if anyone knows of any place in Oregon that has all or most of the aspects I'm looking for please let me know! Thanks
Okay, so I'm looking for a small town that is surrounded by trees/forest, that has a lot of trees and greenery basically. As for the weather, I want it to rain A LOT, absolutely as much as possible. I want it to snow at least a little. I'm also looking for a place with a lot of cloud cover, some people like the use the word gloomy. I also don't want to be too far from the beach, like 2 1/2 - 3 hours at the max.
So that's what I'm looking for, I hope someone can point me in the right direction!

Sorry. Anywhere from the smallest town to 4,000 people, as along as it meets the description i stated above.

I would look at Columbia County which runs along the Gorge. There's Ranier and St. Helens, Clatskanie, lots of small forested towns out that way.
You could also head out towards Mt. Hood and hit Zig Zag or Rhododendron as well.

I am curious as to why you want it to rain A LOT? I have a friend that lives up in Seattle and she gets the MAD syndrome from lack of sun.

It's just always been my favorite type of weather, and I have gotten that kind of reaction a lot. It's just something i love, i can't really explain it.

Gloom
The real gloom is in the Coast Range, which is easily within close enough proximity to the coast, but there aren't many towns, and the communities there are low enough that they don't get snow. The gloom with snow will be on the west slopes of the Cascade Range. Perhaps Sweet Home, Oakridge, or Detroit, but these are farther from the coast (easily within 3 hours, though).
Other ideas: Vernonia, Coquille, Sandy, and Mist.
