Native Oregonian living in Bend since 1999. Thinking of moving to Grants Pass, Eagle Point or Roseburg area. Would appreciate any info that would help us make a choice. We're retired so fortunately, don't need to worry about jobs.
We want to get away from the frigid winters of Bend and Southern Oregon seems to fit the bill since we don't want to leave the state. We've been there several times, and just need some input from folks who live in the area. Thanks for your help. |

We've been in Grants Pass for 14 yrs. Love it, great little 30k population town. We just hit 30k.
Great 4 seasons, nice people, can get a little congested on the roads in and out of town and on the 199 coast hwy. Close to Medford, for big box shopping, many hiking, biking and boating options. Too many bank, church options. Balanced retirement and young family community, with dozens of parks, boat launches for the river and the housing market has dropped 20% making it a great time to buy a new home. happy hunting freedom |

How are the schools in Grants Pass?

Our friends say they are good. They are involved in the schools, many help out in the classrooms and volunteer with other activities that have been hurt by budget cuts.
We homeschool, so I don't know anymore than I hear, and I don't hear anything out of the norm. The city schools (district 7) seem to be in demand. The highschool was rebuilt a few years ago. It has an incredible performing arts theater, Basketball gym, and Football stadium with Astro (type) turf that the community paid for. The Classrooms look very modern and the kids seem to be for the most part, typical highschool kids. They have a really good music program. That is about all I know about it. I am sure they teach the fundamentals. |
