We were from Grants Pass when I was little but I can't remember much. And I don't think that is the place for me now. Something like Co feel, but Oregon type with not so cold!

Thanks so much!
I can't make it in WA much longer, it is so dreary and cold and wet here. even in June.
To be honest, if you can't stand a little cold, you can't live in a desert environment in Oregon. It gets pretty darn cold east of the mountains.

And there are few, very few rattlers in Oregon. In fact, I've never seen one. I'm trying to do away with a big, big gopher snake in my yard, but he's winning up to this point ... he's also not poisonous.

If the snake isn't poisonous, why do you want to get rid of him? Learn to appreciate his place in your environment!

Oregon is a great state. It's a wonderful place to live in too many ways to list. Anywhere in Oregon is GREAT! Let's keep telling everyone that all we get is rain, rain, rain, and more rain.

Yikes! I've seen snakes that long but never that fat! We had a black snake in our neighborhood in Charlotte that was about 11 feet long, but like I say not that round.....Maybe a coyote will get 'im! Good luck!

This has been very enlightening reading all these post. My husband and I moved from SoCal to Grants Pass. Lived there for 15 years. Loved it but it started to remind us of So Cal. So we moved ot Missouri. BIG mistake. We are looking to move back to Oregon this summer when the kids get out of school. We dont want to go to Grants Pass unless we have to but have thought more about places outside Portland or somewhere on the coast.
The only good things out here are nice safe neighborhoods for my kids to play in and great schools. They arent closing programs or shortening school year days like I remember Oregon doing. Right now my kids can play outside with their friends without worrying about somone trying to kidnap them or steel their stuff. But here we have humidity, tornado warnings, big bad thunder storms, snakes, recluse spides, chiggers, bugs, bugs, bugs, humidity and oh yeah, bugs. I have never seen more fleas or ticks in my life. You cant walk on the grass or sit on it. They have copperheads, cottonmouth, and water moccasin snakes here. And it some areas tarantulas the size of dessert plates. Yuck!
We miss the west coast mentality as well. We just spent 10 days in So Cal and cant wait to get back to the west coast. Oh yeah, we love to camp. Cant do that here unless you have a trailer with air cond. Silly huh.

Can I adopt him from you?? My yard is full of gophers and they're winning up to this point.

This could be the start of a beautiful relationship.

I'm very, very sorry you moved to Missouri.

I'm a PNW native but moved to Rogue River, Oregon, from Webb City, Missouri. Come back home. We'll welcome you with open arms.

You and daveFR made me LOL!! I only recently moved to Newberg(love it, love Oregon!!) and had wondered what snakes are known to live here. Guess I should do my homework before summer. When someone mentioned rattlers.I was like....
No matter, I love it here and am here to stay. My new adopted home!!
Am from the gulf coast and we dealt with ground rattlers and water mocassins.......so I'll just watch where I walk. We tended to leave the non poisonous ones alone. They kept the rat population down
