Cheapest Airport to Fly into Final Destination Medford
A friend who doesn't post on CD is going to visit a friend near Medford. She will be flying from SoCal, near San Diego. Is there another airport that might be cheaper to fly into than Medford that isn't more than an hour or two drive time away?
TIA

No. Eugene, a 3-hour drive to the north, would be the closest. Easiest thing for her would be to schlep up to LAX and fly nonstop to MFR (Medford) from there on Allegiant Airlines. $65 one way not including fees and taxes.

The cheapest flights tend to route you through bizarre places, like Reno and Seattle and have a trip time of 7-10 hours. From LAX there is a Horizon flight (a 74 seat turbo prop) that flies directly to Medford. It's not the cheapest, but it's ballpark with all the others ($350 round trip).
There are also direct flights from San Francisco and Portland, so you can try routing through there.
As far as alternate airports, the only other choices are Eugene and Klamath Falls, neither of which is all that close (plus there are even fewer flight choices through Klamath Falls).

Pnw, thanks! I'm going to give her the link to this thread so she can figure out what works best for her.

Allegiant Airlines flies non stop to Medford from LAX, you'll need to book ahead due to the flights are not daily. You can check their rates and schedules on their web site.

I used to live in Medford, and rarely we'd find good tickets out of Medford. Eugene is sometimes better, but usually we'd have to drive up to Portland and fly through there.
We once found a great rate through Sacramento. You might try there. It's still a 5-6 hour drive, but I actually liked the airport better in Sac than PDX.
