Default Is Bend in eastern Oregon?

Or Klamath Falls? To me they are DEFINITELY in eastern Oregon, even if they're not even halfway to Idaho!

Bend and Klamath Falls, to many that live in Oregon, are though of as being in Central Oregon.

Bend is definitely Central Oregon, as it is in the middle of the state by latitude and longitude. Klamath Falls, depending on who is talking, is either Southern, Central or Eastern Oregon.

Some people say "Southern Oregon" only for the Rogue Valley (Ashland, Medford) and Grant's Pass.

I consider Klamath Falls to be Eastern Oregon, being east of the Cascades. Bend, if we're talking strictly JUST Western and Eastern, would also be Eastern since it's east of the Cascades. But otherwise I'd call it Central Oregon rather than Eastern.

Hood River, Bend, Redmond, Sisters and K Falls are all in Central Oregon. Grant's Pass, Rogue Valley are considered Southern Oregon.

Eastern Oregon would start around Umatilla, Hermiston.

Where to slot The Dalles is a matter of opinion. I regard it Central Oregon.

I've never heard anyone refer to The Dalles or Hood River as "central Oregon;" people usually just call them "the Gorge." They're so far north they're not really near the center of Oregon at all.

Central Oregon usually means Deschutes, Jefferson, and Crook counties.

People will often use the term "eastern Oregon" to refer to anything east of the Cascades, which would include Bend and K Falls, though maybe that's a Portland-centric way of talking about things.

Technically, yes, "central Oregon" would be correct. However, in Washington and Oregon the general rule is anything east of the Cascades is "eastern". (Even though there is a "Central Washington University" in Ellensburg, WA.) I think the biggest reason for this is due to the weather differences, once you get past the Cascades you are in an entirely different climate.

Tiggywinkle63 is on a distinguished road
I grew up in Bend. Bend is definitely "central Oregon." Besides being almost exactly in the center geographically speaking, it has attributes of both "west" and "east." It has mountains, forests, lakes & rivers, but it also has the beautiful high desert country as well. It perches on the foothills of the Cascades with the desert at its feet. It is east of the mountains, and the weather reflects that--the winters are colder and snowier than the west, the summers a bit hotter (temps in the 90s are not unusual in July & August).

K-Falls is southern Oregon (southeast Oregon is a whole different animal altogether); The Dalles & Hood River definitely "the Gorge"--both the attitudes of the people and the climate of the region are shaped by where they are (which is actually true of all the places mentioned--"east" and "west" and "central" are all states of mind as well as places on the map).
