To drive from Milwaukie to downtown Portland is probably 20 minutes via freeway. Undesirable places in Portland is a tough question. North Portland is normally not the best area. I am partial to West Linn and Lake Oswego, grew up in West Linn and loved it. It is pricey so housing may be too high. I would look at Oregon City if you like Milwaukie. Better in my opinion and just up the 205 a few minutes. |

Am not overly familiar with that area, other than a couple of visits myself, but I think it definitely depends on what you're looking for. Urban/suburban? Family friendly? Artsy? Trendy, etc.... We're a family of 5 (3 small kids) so we're looking more on the SW side...Tualatin/Tigard/Sherwood area. My understanding is that most areas there are safe, atleast from violent-type crimes. Apparantly Gresham is a bit seedier only because of some poverty issues (someone correct me if I'm wrong here). What's taking you out there?? And good luck to you!! |
