Post What are good areas to live in Bend?

Hi,

I will be moving to Bend in the next month or so and I am looking for somewhere to live currently. The only thing is I don't really know the area and I'm not going to have the money to move up there only to find i've ended up in an unsafe neighborhood and have to move again. I was wondering if anyone had any advice on what some good neighborhoods/areas are or any areas/neighborhoods to avoid? I really don't want to end up living in an undesirable area or unsafe neighborhood. As a single girl living alone i don't want to end up in a sketchy part of town. I found this website http://www.bendneighborhoods.com/Map...ghborhoods/but it doesn't really give me much information about the individual areas.

Any help on this issue would be greatly appreciated!! Thanks!!

Stay clear of the North East as it is where 99% of the crime occurs. Anything off of Mt. Washington drive is a safe bet. You will find a good network of bike paths and access to the forest. Using the linked map below Century West, Summit West, and Awbrey Butte neighborhoods are the most desirable neighborhoods.

You gotta go with the west side if you can afford it. Just stay on the west side (towards the mountains) of the river.

I'll keep an eye out for places in this area! I like the idea of being near bike paths as i ride quite often.

Thanks so much everyone! It's nice to get some advice!!

You haven't mentioned what kind of housing and cost you are looking at. For someone to say to stay out of the NE side of Bend is just silly - there are plenty if very nice areas in Northeast Bend. Central Bend (east of and south of downtown) has some nice areas with older cottages and homes that are often affordable. The further west you go you are going to look at the more expensive parts of Bend. If you can give an idea of what you're looking for, that will help.
