Default Reedsport - An overview please?

I'm considering applying for a job in Reedsport and would appreciate opinions of the town.
In particular:
-What are the main employers?
-Is it mainly a retirement town?
-What's the art/culture scene like?
-From my research I'm gathering winters are cloudy and rainy, what months?
-What do you think of the local newspaper?
And a general overview of the town.

Thanks in advance everyone.

I can only tell you a little as I have only driven through.

There is a small hospital,a grocery store or two,the paper is a online, city water is not cheap, gas for your car is often cheaper than Coos Bay.

There are some dikes in the area and some history flooding, I would not buy next to a **** or low lying area.It seems you will have to go to Florence or Coos for shopping at Fred Meyers,Bi-Mart,Wal-Mart.
Note: Substitute the word levee for the **** that the software censors.Unreal.Dyke is different than ****.

If you fish the Umpqua River is a good place to do it, as is Winchester Bay.
You could be in Eugene in a couple of hours. This makes bigger city stuff somewhat accessible.
Are you in Fla.?? Have you been to the OR. coast? It may be quite different than anything you have seen.

Default Thanks Chetc

Thanks.

I have not been to the Oregon coast. Did live in Ca, north of LA and drove the PCH up to SF.

So I'm familiar with that coast.

Also know the coast of Maine and have gathered that the Oregon coast would be more like the Maine coast.
