I think that is it. We went fishing with a friend out btoh Coos Bay and Winchester Bay and had great success. He spoke very highly of the guides in the area. I personally could not recommend one, however I am sure one may chime in.

There are quite a few coastal lakes/ponds from Florence to Coos Bay & some favorite saltwater areas.

Are you looking for salt water fishing or fresh water? Salt fishing along the coast in general is very depressed due to variety of factors, one of which is algae blooms that are partially caused by dishwasher and clothes washer soaps dumping directly into rivers and flowing into the ocean.

I was looking at trying a little of both. was thinking of going in mid sept and using a charter service for ocean fishing.

Ahh, Charter Fishing is a different story. I'm not aware of any Charter Fishing out of Coos Bay with the caveat that I have never looked specifically for it.

But, Reedsport and Florence to the north and Charleston to the south both have lots of Charter Fishing opportunities. I think Charleston would be the better bet as it seems to have a bigger fishing fleet then Coos Bay. Coos Bay is really geared more towards huge container ships, it is after all the biggest Ocean Port between Seattle and San Francisco.

fishing in coos bay is not what it used to be I'll tell you that. I've been fishing in coos bay for almost 20 years. when I was a kid you could catch green ling, flounder, and sometimes even ling cod right off the docks and jetties. but now days you can't even really catch crabs off the docks and the only thing you will catch off a jetty around here is a cold. Fishing off the rocks can be good if you know were to go and your willing to hike through some brush or do some climbing. If you go on a charter boat go on the Betty K. nice people and you will catch something as long as your doing the deep sea fishing but the halibut and tuna charters where hit or miss even 20 years ago in this area due to over fishing.
