Default Silverton

Ok I see that Silverton has many labor and delivery positions open .. it could possibly be my ticket to making it to Oregon. Please tell me what you know about this place. I've read all about the mayor all over the internet, and that doesn't bother me in the least.
I would like to know from anyone whose visited often. Are the people there redneckish, educated, ect? I just dont' want to end up in some of the small towns like right around here where I live. I love small towns, but if you get the wrong one .. ugh. Not to sound judgemental cause I'm not .... this is just a big risk to move this far without visiting this town first ( i won't have the money to come before our move ... hopefully i can get a job over the phone - happens a lot in nursing). Ok thanks so much!

Hi, I don't live in silverton but do in salem..I spend parts of 2 days week up there doing some volunteer work..I know lots of people who live and use the hospital and they all love it..Its not red-neck, its just a pretty quiet community with lots to see and do in the immediate area and nice mild climate..Plus its about 15 miles from salem and I-5...There are some neat hole in the wall places to eat too..
You would like it...Lots of walking area's too.
Good luck with your move.......

Silverton is great. It's a beautiful little town, very "picturesque", and I'd say that the general population is above average as far as educated residents go.
