Default How is the Newport area?

My family and I want to move to the Oregon Coast. I would like to know how the schools are in Newport. Would also like to know how the job market is for nurses. I have my CNA and I am in school for my RMA (Registered Medical Assistant) so I could work in a doctors office or hospital. I do private home care now. We live in Florida and are realy looking forward to cooler summers. Our 7 yr old has asthma and can't handle any more of these hot humid summers. I know he would do much better there. Does it snow in Newport in the winter? It's been awhile since we've seen snow. Our youngest 2 have never seen snow except on tv. Any info would be great. Thanks.

Oregon has one of the worst job markets in the country and the coast is always very tough. In-home health care might be your best bet since a lot of retirees and elderly live on the coast.

Newport is a nice area. Winters are wet, gloomy, windy and humid with little bursts of summer like weather at times. (snow is rare on the coast and it's usually just a trace) . Summers and early Fall are wonderful on the coast but can still be humid. (however not like FL humidity).

Your best bet is to come out for an exploratory visit and start the job possibility networking.
