Default Air Pollution in Forest Grove

Hello! My husband and I are looking at relocating from Olympia, Wa and like the sound of Forest Grove - except for the proximity to agriculture. We are both very sensitive to pesticides, etc and I was wondering how clean the air is in Forest Grove. Do the air currents usually seem to come down off the Coastal range or more often from the east? Is it mostly organic/sustainable farming around there now? Direct info on this has been hard to find on the internet but some sites suggest this to be the case though it sounds too good to be true. I would appreciate any replies - air quality can be in terms of asthma and other breathing troubles as well as this would also effect us. Thank you very much!

You might want to call one of the local allergy doctors in the area and ask them those questions. They will have that kind of direct knowledge.

Air currents move from the coast to the east.

Do you realize how many pesticides are used in urban areas compared to agriculture? Lawn companies are out daily applying herbicides.

Actually, much of Forest Grove is "downwind" from a lot of fields - wind prevaiing from the west. Maybe find a home up on the hill area. I'd expect more drift to the east like in Hillsboro.

I just finished a design plan for one area up there - very pretty. It was Hoodview Drive. Google Maps splits the name - though it should be together.

Google "Hood View Drive, Forest Grove" on Google maps.

Below is a photo from the yard above it, looking south over the yard I finished the plan drawing for. You can sort of see the hills in the background. Sort of the beginning of the coast range.

Good to hear about the direction the wind blows and that it will usually be fresh air from the coast. Very true about pollution from lawn care and such. Due to this we have been living more rurally the last several years and it makes a big difference. Thank you for the pic showing the hills, they look like just the place. Thank you for the replies

Winter wind comes from the south; summer wind, from the north. In between, from the west generally. Occasionally, usually in winter, there's a dry, icy east wind.

Funny, I grew up in Forest Gale Heights (Ammon way) and rode dirt bikes all over the orchard where your street now lives. Small world. To the op, Forest Grove is a nice town that is getting nicer. I can't testify to the pesticides but I never had issues with it.
