There are a few posts that have described the area,so use the search function if you have not already done so.

You can check out the town in an hour or two.I would suggest looping through town on HWY 101,then hit Virginia( Pony Village Mall),Newmark and Ocean Blvd.

I do not know the exact areas of crime, but when I drive through Empire to Charleston, I see a fair amount of people that look like they may have used meth on a regular basis.

If you have time go out to Sunset Bay and Cape Argo as it is pretty this time of year.

I would consider North Bend over Coos Bay if I was going to live in the area.

Default One warning!!!

A man and his acomplise live in Coos Bay by the name of Ray Bowman and Mary Forsman. They are con artists and have cleaned out the city of Ocean Park as well as friends and family known to both. . They are devious and deceptive and you should watch out!!!!!!

Hi. I live here in Coos Bay, and I love it.
Bugs arent bad around here. Ive never seen a roach! I think the ones we see the most, are potato bugs. they seem to thrive here for some weird reason....
there are spiders (darn it!!) but not like an unreasonable amount...
If you are going towards Charleston on Cape Arago, there are definatly some streets I would NOT live on.
Id second the recommendation to use the search engine and look up the other threads on Coos Bay. Theres several on here with some pretty terrific infor that should be of help to you Id write more about this city I love, but Ive been up since 4.30am and Im just beat. - be more than happy to help later if you have some other specific questions that arent answered in the other Coos Bay/North Bend threads.
Good luck to your husband on his interview!!!

I have visited Coos Bay several times and don't care for North Bend as much bec of its proximity to the airport--who wants the flyover noise?

I always like the name, we did a trip south from Lapine over to the coast and headed North, Coo's bay wasn't what I expected, course I did no research, it is near alot of things to see, I loved the sand dunes, lighthouses and a few other things.
