Rural Rentals in Corvallis Area?
We've just relocated to Corvallis, love it love it love it! Farmer's market great, coop wonderful. Currently looking for a rental somewhere outside of the city limits in more of a rural location. Any opinions on the feasibility of that? Most of the property management/real estate companies seem to only have or list city/town properties. We prefer to be a little further out any guidance on the best way to find info would be most helpful. Thanks.

Have you thought of looking more towards Philomath or more towards Lewisburg. Pick up a local paper and look for rentals as I have notice that a lot of property management groups seem to be geared towards the college crowd at times (IMO).

Thanks for response
Thanks for the response. Yes we are considering those areas and further afield. Have posted on Craigslist, looking in local paper, also on notice boards at library and coop and having a wonderful time exploring while we're house hunting! Any other avenues for info welcome! Thanks

Corvallis is mostly students and rural area is homes occupied by owners and many of them are involved in agriculture, so finding a rental would not be quite easy.
It is a strong farming region. When OSU opened, it started as the State Agricultural College. Even to this day, they're sitll quite rich in "hick" programs, like Crop science, horticulture, forestry, forest engineering and agricultural science.

You may want to expand your search from strictly "Corvallis." For example, (as mentioned above there is Philomath and Lewisburg), as well as North Albany; located in Benton County, about 15 minutes from N. Corvallis - very rural settings as well as subdivisions. Most of the older (pre-2005 I think) homes are going to be on at least 10,000 square foot home sites.
You can also go south - Peoria, Monroe, etc...as well as North to Adair, Independence, and Monmouth. All are very reasonable commutes (less than 15-20 minutes) to Corvallis.

Thanks for reponse - discovered Monroe.
Hi Thanks for the response. We've discovered Monroe and are considering a place there. We'll check out Peoria. Beautiful areas around here!

Might be moving
My job may be bringing me to the area, and I too would prefer a rural rental. Would you mind to share whatever resources you find?
Thanks much. Casey

Hi Casey - We've found Craigslist, the local papers, networking and just driving around the areas we like looking for For Rent signs the best ways of looking for the rural rentals in the area. There are some closer in to Corvallis but they are a little more, (They're listed on Craigslist) so it will all depend on your budget. Good luck with the hunt!

Ah yes! Good Old Craigslist!
Thanks for the suggestions. MY daughter and I are really excited, and we hope things work out for us to move there.
