Default NEEDING HELP relocating to Gresham

Hello everybody, I am in the Navy going to be a recruiter at the Gresham recruiting station. I am look for a good area around the station. I am willing to commute about 30 mins. I am not from the area, nor been to the area. Just heard that Portland is a beautiful area. I have been stationed in Japan for the past 6 years any help will do. Looking for a house or townhouse 2+br 1.5+bath fireplace, garage. I am 31 yo and my 27 yo fiancée will be moving with me thank you all in advance

I don't know Gresham, but I can tell you that it's right next to Portland. You might want to try posting in the Portland forum if no one replies here. I know enough to say that you should have no trouble finding a good place to live.

Also check craigslist, and the classifieds from the daily paper: The Oregonian newspaper: Oregon News - OregonLive.com

There are jokes about Gresham being the bad burbs of Portland. To a certain extent they're true, mostly because the town is full of immigrant workers who've settled there permanently. But the town has a solid down town core and is fairly large now, so it does have traffic problems now. I can't comment about employment, but that doesn't look to be your problem. If the recruiting station is where it use to be, there are some fairly nice apartments across the street that I use to live in and would recommend.
