Default Places around the world that resemble the Willamette Valley?

From pictures, I think New Zealand, Ohio, England, and France look a lot like the Willamette Valley.

A friend of mine who grew up in Sweet Home just spent a year in Cork, Ireland and said that certain areas were very similar to the Willamette Valley.

I read this info on a vineyard's website and found it very interesting.

Where ever there were massive volcanic ash flows, there be extremely fertile land. In Oregon and Washington, it was called the Missoula Floods, which occurred about 15K years ago.

I looked up Cork and found the same type of thing. As near as I can understand it, anyway.

Yeeeeahhh - I'm going to have to say Ohio looks nothing like the Willamette Valley!! Now I would definitely say Cincinnati looks a lot like Portland (from the interstate, without your glasses on), but I haven't seen anything else around here that looks like remotely familiar

I've always heard that the wine growing regions of France are at similar lattitude to the Willamette Valley, and this is why Oregon has such a lucrative market for growing Pinot Noirs and such. And honestly my memories of Burgundy in France were that it did look remarkably similar to rural areas in the central Willamette Valley south of Portland. Much of western Germany as well looks similar to the Willamette region--similar topography and a fairly mild climate.

From certain angles, Wellington, NZ looks remarkably similar to Portland as far as skyline and hills and greenery.
