I have no problem with it being windy, but losing power for extended periods of time would be bad for my business? I would suspect that the infrastructure in the coastal cities would be up to the winds, but I am curious from those who live there if extended power outages are the norm?

In Coos Bay/North Bend it is really windy. This past winter they had hurricane force winds and heavy rain with it. So you had flooding, downed trees and power lines as well as knocked over fences.
It got so bad that the car port tent that was in the back of my house just lifted itself almost touching the power lines. If I hadn't taken it down, that thing would of ended up in Portland. The thing was even bolted to concrete and the wind just picked it up like an umbrella. With all that, I don't recall losing power. Some areas did, but not mine. |

I live along the Coast with our power supplied by Central Lincoln People's Utility District (PUD) and I can only remember one instance last December that we lost power but it was only for about 6 hours. This utility company is right on top of it. About 4 years ago we lost power for around 2 days during typhoon winds. That's when we bought a generator just in case.
