Two days in Coos Bay & North Bend ~ what to do ?
It's time to visit the coast again, this time to Coos Bay and North Bend. Can any locals recommend MUST SEE/MUST DO activities and places? Any seafood restaurants that are special ? Thanks for any recommendations

Shore Acres. MUST go. after going through the gardens, go through the little gate on the west side. follow the path down to the beach cove. wonderful little beach area...then, go across the little bridge, and follow the path up, when it splits, follow it to the right....go up a bit, when it opens to a grassy field on your right, follow the little path...you'll find some stunning views....
BEST seafood, fresh from the local fishermen is down on the docks in Charleston, its Fishermans Wharf on dock D. LOVE those guys!!! They'll totally treat you right.
for long stretches of beach, go over the bridge (headed north, out of town) and follow the signs for Horsetail Falls beach area, Ive never gone there and not found at least one full unbroken sand dollar on a walk.
In town, Mingus Park is pretty. Nice little Japanese garden on the far end....
I know in various threads, ive got pics of all these places....and more suggestions, but Ive been up since 430am, and my brain is toast....I'll try to pitch in more later...
oh, for a rather spendy, but REALLY GOOD food, try Hilltop House. If your driving north, its just after you cross over the big bridge. We went there for a "grown up" dinner and enjoyed it tremendously!

If you want a bowl of chowder try Captain's choice on Virginia Ave. It's the same street that the mall is on in North Bend. I had some of their chowder and a salad last week. It was pretty darn good.
Yes the beach area is the best thing to see. It's not crowded and, just beautiful. If you like to gamble there is the casino on highway 101. I don't gamble so I haven't been in there in a while. I used to go into one of their restaurants but the prices got pretty high. If you like to drink there are bars there too.

if youre in the mood for pizza, Daves Pizza is my favorite, and if you want great mexican or peruvian food, go to La Costa right across the road. Oh, and he makes THE BEST drinks ever!!! OMG....
you MUST go to Cranberry Sweets. check em out online, i know they have a website. They have lots and lots of fabulous samples set all through the store, and you will most definatly find something to make your sweet tooth in bliss. Its a can NOT miss. I stock up there for Christmas gifts every year.

there's a very interesting wine shop downtown in Coos Bay, forget the name, but a good place to pick up local bottlings.

Well I must say that the meth in coos bay is awesome some of the best. The captains cabin or the silver dollar are a couple of musts for anyone visiting coos bay.

THANK YOU ALL for the recommendations !
Unfortunately, the weather did not cooperate enough for the second day visit to the area when the morning rain reminded me of Florida's monsoon downpours, only there was strong winds & flooded streets, along with the rain.
After arriving in the area on Sunday, we went to the Casino for a quick lunch and was pleased with our selection of fish & chips ~ the best I've had in a long time We drove to Charleston and visited the beach Checked-in to the Red Lion and that was very nice
Next morning the rain came. We had an EXCELLENT breakfast at the Kozy Kitchen and by the time we were finished eating ~ the rain was pounding us so we headed back to the Rogue Valley ~
