Corvallis or Albany
Overall which city is better for a family, schools activities and churches? Excepting a job in Corvallis but struggling on where to locate.

When I lived in Corvallis, I knew a lot of families who worked in Albany but lived in Corvallis for the superior schools, livability and air quality. I didn't know anyone who did the reverse.

Albany is not a place people choose to live---they end up there. Corvallis is a great place for families. Just look at the state report cards for Corvallis and Albany school districts and you will see the dramatic difference in school performance. Corvallis is a higher cost of living for sure--you get what you pay for. If you need more specific info about the area, just ask

Is it true that Corvallis is one of the least religious cities in the U.S.?

The idea of churches families spend several hours at each Sunday like I have seen in the deep South would blow people's minds in the Willamette Valley in general. Just not done as much.

Yes and there are lots of "alternative" religions here like Unitarians, wiccans, eastern religions, etc. Just saying that in particular, this isn't a hugely Christian population.

Hey another question about Corvalis ... while we're on the topic ... I think I remember reading somewhere a poster saying something like that Corvalis isn't surrounded by "as much natural beauty" as the rest of Oregon .. I think that was the exact words ... Now that Corvalis is up higher on our list of places to relocate to, due to the engineering school there, I'd like someone to tell me if this is true in your opinion and if so in what way??? Corvalis is one area we didn't make it to when we vacationed in Oregon, so I'd like to know before we move there if we do! I see that we can take that one road almost all the way to Newport from there =)
Thanks

Melissa, Corvalis is an old farm town - and although the demographics have changed a bit to-date, it is still surrounded by farmland. Flat, farmland. But "natural beauty" is merely a short drive away. You just aren't going to see it out your living room window.
