Default Any competitive soccer for teenagers in Newport Oregon?

Hi everyone,

We are considering a move to Newport in January. My teenagers are competitive soccer players and I was wondering if there is any soccer in Newport? I haven't seen anything about that on any of these posts. If there is not in Newport, can you tell me how long the drive is from Newport to Bend? I know there is soccer there and we would drive the kids for games and practices.

Thanks for all your help!!

Newport's high school has a soccer team. The town of Newport is about 180 miles away from Bend over Highway 20, which includes a couple mountain passes over the Cascades, and is often impassible in winter. The drive takes four hours or more (each direction) depending on conditions. It would actually be much faster to go to Portland or Salem.

We have two competitive soccer leagues here in Salem. Keizer Soccer Club and Cascade Futbol. I'd go with Keizer Soccer as they are more organized.

You'd be crazy to drive to Bend. That's like 4-5 hours one way.

If by competitive you mean "club soccer", you would probably want to be closer to one of the metro areas. Portland and it's suburbs, Salem, Eugene, etc. Otherwise High School soccer is probably going to be your best option in Newport.
