Question Lake Oswego vs. Camas, WA?

hello oregonians

we are looking to relocate to beautiful Oregon and, from the research and people we've talked to, it sounds like Lake Oswego is the place to be if you can afford it. but, we've also found that you can get excellent schools and more house for the $ in WA so we're considering Camas or Washougal areas. as we are from santa barbara, we'd like to go somewhere that doesn't feel too big yet has access to some good shopping (we don't even have a target!). what do you think?

don't live in camas/washougal unless you think you can stand the smell of the pulp mills. there's always a reason it's more affordable...

Default What Smell?

Camas won't be less expensive for long. Oregonians are moving in here by the droves to escape all the tax related shennanigans they are having to deal with. (Closing schools, cutting the police force, not able to open jails that were built years ago, etc.) There is a mild odor from the mill a few days a year. Georgia-Pacific spent $20,000,000 to bring down the emissions by over 92% several years ago, with a very positive impact. Also, the mill will be closed altogether in a few years...plans are to build more homes for all the Oregonians moving here.

Here's a thread that covers this topic pretty extensively: http://www.city-data.com/forum/washington/8057-camas-vs-lake-oswego.html

Heh. I just realized both of these threads were started by the same poster.
